Art and Faith

Part of staying healthy is relaxing, playing, doing something you enjoy. The mind, heart and body needs some time away from the grind.

One of my favorite ways of balancing work with play is painting. I love to paint hills, birds, ponds, and just about every part of our Father’s amazing creation. But my favorite subject is people. Recently, I was given the privilege of painting the portrait of an American hero.

This portrait is a 50th Anniversary Painting. I was honored to be asked to create two portraits (a color-pencil/ink sketch and an oil on canvas) of the new Chief Master Sergeant (CMS) of the US Air Force. The CMS is the highest level position of the enlisted leadership in the Air Force. CMS Wright is the 18th in US history. He represents all Air Force enlisted people to the Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Air Force. Attached is a photo of my color-pencil/ink sketch that hangs with the other 17 CMS sketches on the Wall of Honor at Lackland AF Base in San Antonio, TX. The oil portrait is in the process of being painted.

I hope you will find some time this week relaxing, playing, and just doing something you enjoy.
