Big is Not Better
How do you picture Jesus? I picture him doing amazing miracles, preaching to the multitude on the Sea of Galilee, dying on the cross for the sins of the whole world and rising from the dead. Such amazing events could lead us to think that Jesus was primarily interested in those things that are big.
Don’t forget. Before all those big and important events, Jesus lived a very simple, quiet, private life in a seemingly insignificant village in a small, rural country. He spent most of his life away from the big – big important people, big cities, and big events. The secret to Jesus’ intimacy with his heavenly Father was his simple, single-minded focus on being one with his Father.
His uncomplicated love for and clear commitment to his Father prepared him to deal with the complicated and confused world he came to help. This is an important lesson for our own lives. Big is not better. Could it be that your simple, uncluttered, uncomplicated, undivided love for your Lord is what you need right now?
