Have you ever been through a hurricane?
I grew up near the beach in South Florida where we had hurricanes nearly every year. I remember the first one. The weatherman warned those of us who lived near the Atlantic Ocean to get prepared because of all the dangers that accompanied the approaching hurricane. I was terrified. But Daddy said, “Don’t be afraid. I’ve been through these hurricanes so many times I know exactly what to do. Everything’s going to be all right.”
The first year Daddy said those words of assurance, I wasn’t so sure. I trembled and covered my ears in fear from all the sounds of the flying debris until after the storm passed. But the next year, when the weatherman said the same thing as before, I was afraid. I thought to myself, “He doesn’t know my daddy. My experience with Daddy taught me that he had a plan. No need to fear, Daddy knew how to protect us. He always saw us through.
He Can See What You Can’t See
No matter what hurricane you are going through today, remember, since the beginning of time, your Heavenly Father has seen his children through the darkest of times. Even when you cannot see one step ahead of you, listen to the voices of his many children who’ve seen him handle their storms, “Don’t be afraid. I’ve been through these hurricanes many times before. Everything’s going to be all right. Like it was with my Son, Jesus, when you go through a crucifixion, I always have a resurrection for you.”
